The big push, goal is 15 miles which we knock off! Mile 2047 to mile 1062. We decide to skip the oatmeal routine and just munch on breakfast bars as we hike. Actually a great time saver and more nutritional bang for your buck. Excitement today included bear scat on the trail so said Bill. Of course we have no bear vaults! At the crossing of highway 4 we rummage through provisions a trail angel has left for thru PCT hikers. Fresh oranges and cookies were appreciated. The beer had already disappeared! We make our way up and down a challenging narrow volcanic Z trail. Many trail washouts and I stopped looking down and forged ahead. Thank goodness for hiking posts/poles. We continue through Mokelumne Wilderness and finally set up camp near another seasonal stream. Eleanor discovers the steam is quite silty after dunking her head in for a wash! Campsite is large and level, the kind we like. No one else at the site. End our day at 7904 ft tired and pleased with our daily mileage.
