This morning we really had our act together. Broke camp and on the trail by 8am! Our tent and sleeping gear are actually quite comfy and snuggle proof! Anyway, we made our way down to Red Meadows (7779 ft). There were 5 miles with no water source so the first water stop was welcoming. Hot and dry today with high of around 90 F. We passed through the skeleton forest of dead trees from the Rainbow Fire of 1992. Check out www.redsmeadow.com for interesting history of the area. We planned to stay at Red Meadows but decided to hop on the shuttle into Mammoth Lakes as we needed to pick up our resupply box at the PO. Today took us 11 more miles north and feeling ready for a rest day.
